Industrial Plant Dismantling Chesterfield

Industrial plant dismantling in Chesterfield and across Derbyshire

We dismantle industrial plant in Chesterfield for engineering works, rail and automotive component makers, food producers and medical device businesses. A job can be one item or a whole works. Survey and method come first, then the plant is isolated, cut at chosen joints, lowered, sorted and loaded out.

We reach Markham Vale, Staveley, Brampton, Hasland, Clay Cross and Dronfield, and out to Matlock, Mansfield and Worksop. Photographs and drawings are enough for a desktop survey and a price back that working day, with nights and shutdowns where a site needs its area clear.

What dismantling covers

Plant comes apart in the reverse of the order it went up, and that keeps its value. Equipment bound for re-erection is match-marked, recorded and packed for the journey, and machines with life left sell on as working kit. What has finished pays through separation at the cut face. We dismantle across the UK and into Europe.

What we dismantle in Chesterfield

Plant What decides the method How it comes apart
Machining cells and press plant Headroom above, foundation below Broken at main joints, unbolted and craned out
Weld cells, jigs and line equipment Whether it goes back up elsewhere Released at bolts and flanges, marked cell by cell
Mixing tanks, silos and CIP sets The certificate on the shell Drained, certified, then taken in rings from the top
Overhead travelling cranes and crane rails What the building carries without the hoist Hoist lowered, then beams freed in turn
Cleanroom skids and laboratory plant The containment the room holds Broken at flanges under sheeting and wrapped
Compressors, receivers and extraction ducting Services still fed from the same run Isolated, ducting dropped in lengths, receivers cut gas free

Send the details and a method comes back with the price. Our industrial plant dismantling service page sets out the work.

Where we work in and around Chesterfield

Enquiries here come from these estates and industries.

Units and plant at Markham Vale

Manufacturing and distribution have filled the estate, so the plant coming out of it is newer than the town’s older works hold. Racking, mezzanine steel, sortation equipment and the odd line go when a tenant changes. See our industrial sector page.

Component works making rail and automotive parts

Rail components, automotive parts and precision machined work are made here. Presses, machine tools, weld equipment and handling gear come off their bases when a contract ends, the shop carrying on. See our rail and automotive pages.

Broom Business Park, Foxwood and Boythorpe

Engineering and trade firms fill these estates, with yards tighter than the units. Plant room and rooftop equipment comes down as buildings are re-serviced, with machinery left when a unit goes back. See our HVAC page.

    Laboratory and medical device buildings

Life sciences and medical device work sits alongside the town’s engineering. Skids, autoclaves, fume plant and laboratory equipment leave when a product changes or a room is refitted. See our healthcare and pharma page.

Food plants and the M1 distribution sites

Producers replace lines sooner than buildings, and motorway warehouses change handling as contracts move. Vessels, refrigeration packs, conveyors and sortation gear come out inside shutdowns, hygiene fixing where cutting happens. See our food and beverages page.

Access and planning for dismantling in Chesterfield

Settled on a Chesterfield job before a torch is lit:

    • Contents, cleaning and the certificate dates. What the plant held decides when cutting begins. The operator or an appointed specialist handles cleaning, purging and gas-free certification, and the programme follows the dates they give.
    • Platforms, anchors and the rescue plan. Most cutting happens up on the structure, so platform positions, edge protection, anchors and rescue go into the plan.
    • Ground over the old workings. Coal was worked under the land east and north of the town, so bearing capacity is checked at survey. Towards Matlock, south west of the town, the fall across a yard decides where a wagon stands.
    • Stability worked stage by stage. Plant holds itself up in ways that show only once a piece is gone, so each stage is checked against what remains.
    • Outrigger pads, section size and street space. Pads are sized to the pressure the crane puts down, sections to what the doors and yard take. Loads join the M1 at junction 29, 29a or 30, and closures go through Derbyshire County Council.

Dismantling for reuse, or for recovery

Plant with a rebuild waiting on it is handled differently from the first cut. Every item is marked against a record and its position logged as it comes free, joints are undone at bolts and flanges wherever the connection allows, and parts are crated for the road. A machine sold on as working equipment gets the same care.

Where plant has finished, the return sits in the separation. Stainless is kept in its own stillage and carbon steel in another, with cable and non-ferrous away from the general skip. Steel is cut to lengths that weigh in cleanly. A Chesterfield job is commonly a mix of the two. Send a list of what you want back and the cutting order is built around it.

    Postcodes and areas we cover

We cover the Chesterfield S postcodes and the districts around them:

    • Chesterfield: town centre, Brampton, Walton, Newbold, Hasland and Brimington
    • East and north: Staveley, Markham Vale, Barlborough, Bolsover, Dronfield, Eckington and Killamarsh
    • South and west: Wingerworth, Holmewood, Clay Cross, Ashover and Matlock
    • Wider area: Sheffield, Rotherham, Worksop, Retford, Mansfield and Derby

We dismantle plant right across the UK and into Europe.

Why Chesterfield firms choose Synergy Lifting for dismantling

    • Jobs that run across the county boundary. The heavy manufacturing south of Sheffield sits a few miles away, and work taking in both sides is priced as one job.
    • The scrap weights stay yours. Grades are separated as they come down and recorded as they load, so material is weighed and sold on your account, the destination set in the contract.
    • Cutting, lifting and haulage bought once. Our operators run the crane, our riggers the sequence, our cutters the separating and our wagons the sections, leaving no contract boundary.
    • Qualified and accredited. CPCS and NPORS operators, lifts planned to BS 7121, equipment inspected under LOLER and PUWER, SSIP approved, Constructionline Gold Member, certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and members of the Construction Plant-hire Association.

    How a dismantling job works

    1. Tell us what the plant is, what was inside it and which items are kept, with any photographs.
    2. We survey and build the method, the order chosen so nothing standing leans on the piece just taken out.
    3. You receive the method statement, risk assessment and lift plan, and we settle certificates with the site.
    4. Our crews isolate, cut and lift down, separating each grade at the floor, your keep list first.
    5. Load-out closes the job, marked items travelling separately where they go back up.

    Common questions

Can a packing line near the M1 come out inside a weekend stoppage?

The survey splits what can be released while the line runs from what waits for the stop. Isolations and cleaning are booked first, sections pre-sized to the doors, and anything carrying over is agreed beforehand.

How do sections leave a site at Markham Vale or Staveley?

Sections are cut to what the doors and yard take and loaded on level ground, joining the M1 at junction 29a or 29 within a few miles. Oversized pieces get their route checked at survey.

How is dismantling different from demolition?

Demolition takes a structure down and the value is in the cleared site. Dismantling takes plant apart in the reverse of the order it went up, so what comes off keeps its value as equipment, as parts, or as material worth more separated than mixed. The planning takes longer and the work is slower, and on the right job it pays for itself.

Who cleans and certifies the plant before cutting?

Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification sit with the site operator or a specialist, and the sequence is planned around those certificates. Several are valid for one shift only, so the cutting is arranged to match when they can be issued. We agree all of that at survey and write it into the programme.
