Overview

Factory relocation in Hull and across the East Riding

Hull’s factory moves come from food and seafood producers, engineering and caravan makers on the estates, the offshore wind supply chain and the process plants east of the city. One point of contact runs the whole job: survey and asset register, disconnection and decommissioning with your engineers and the equipment manufacturers, strip-out and dismantling, lifting the machinery out, packing and crating, transport, then offloading, positioning, reinstallation, levelling, setting to line and recommissioning, in the UK or Europe.

We cover Hull, Hessle, Cottingham, Beverley, Brough and Hedon, out to Goole, Withernsea, Scunthorpe and Grimsby. A desktop survey gives smaller moves a same-day price.

What a factory relocation covers

The scope can be a complete works or one department, from CNC machine tools and injection moulding machines to production lines, compressors, process tanks and racking. Machines you are not taking can leave for sale or disposal on the same visit. When the new building is not ready on your leaving date, equipment waits in storage.

What we do

Factory moves we plan in Hull

Type of move What sets the timetable What we handle
Moving to a bigger or newer unit Sign-off of the new floor and supplies Extraction, then reinstallation on the new floor plan, whether across Hull or out to Brough
Bringing two sites onto one When the retained site can free up floor A shared asset register and a delivery order that fits the plant already there
A closure, with working plant going to a sister site in the UK or abroad The receiving plant’s install date Decommissioning, export cases and removal of what stays
Rearranging a factory within the same building or site Your production calendar Plant taken to its new position one area at a time and lined up
A single line or department moving A shutdown long enough to strip and rebuild it Breaking the line down and reassembling it end to end with its conveyors
A lease end forcing a move The day your tenancy ends The old unit cleared by then, with storage bridging any gap

Each stage is explained on our factory relocation service page.

    Sectors

Where we work in and around Hull

Relocations here span these sectors and areas.

    Food producers across the city

Food and seafood production is a large part of Hull’s industry. When a producer changes premises, freezing plant and packing lines are cleaned down, sheeted for the road and put back in time for your hygiene sign-off. See our food and beverages page.

    Engineering works around Sutton Fields

When an engineering firm on Sutton Fields or a nearby estate outgrows its unit, CNC machine tools and presses are set to line in the new building before anyone reconnects them. See our industrial sector page.

    Caravan and component makers

Caravan and component factories around the city run long assembly lines. A move follows the order the new layout calls for, so each section arrives where it will stand.

    The offshore wind supply chain

Smaller firms in the offshore wind supply chain move production plant and test equipment into larger premises as their contracts grow. See our power and renewables page.

Chemical and process firms east of the city

Along the estuary east of Hull, chemical and process businesses relocate tanks, pumps and skid units to another plant or into storage once your team has drained and isolated them. See our chemicals sector page.

    Around the docks

Workshops and handling firms on the dock estate move to new premises inland or elsewhere along the Humber, with the port’s access rules written into the programme. See our maritime sector page.

    Planning

Access and planning for a factory move in Hull

Points we check on most Hull relocations:

    • Timing on the A63. Heavy plant heading for the M62 leaves Hull on the A63, and the stretch past the docks gets congested. Each load-out goes into the programme at an hour when that road is moving.
    • A finished receiving building. Floor complete, bases set, supplies connected and a clear way in, all confirmed before any plant leaves the old site.
    • Doors, headroom and the yard. Door widths, internal clearance, room in the yard and any removable roof panels decide the extraction method for every item, all recorded on the asset register.
    • Ground and slabs at both sites. Much of Hull is low-lying reclaimed ground, so the crane standing in the yard is checked along with the slab inside, and plates or mats go under jacks and skates.
    • Closures and notifications. Road or pavement space for loading is booked through Hull City Council or East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and any abnormal load is notified.

    Production

Keeping production going during the move

A phased move keeps part of the plant working throughout. We shift the lines you can spare first, get them working at the new address, then follow with the rest. Work that stops a line is booked into weekends or your shutdown, so a Hull food plant can keep one line packing while another moves.

Your leaving date and the new building’s completion rarely fall on the same day. Storage holds equipment between the two, and machines you are leaving behind go for sale or disposal as the old unit empties.

    Why Synergy

Why Hull firms choose Synergy Lifting for factory relocation

    • From one packing line to a whole works. A line moving across Hull and a works leaving Sutton Fields get the same survey and written programme.
    • Food lines and wind plant handled alike. Stainless packing equipment and heavy wind supply plant are moved by the same crews, each packed for its journey.
    • Every trade on the move is ours. Crane, rigging crew, lorries and reinstallation team sit under a single contract, so a change of dates takes one conversation.
    • Qualified and accredited. CPCS and NPORS operators, lifts planned to BS 7121, equipment inspected under LOLER and PUWER, SSIP approved, Constructionline Gold Member, certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and members of the Construction Plant-hire Association.

    Process

    How a factory relocation works

    1. Send both addresses, an approximate machine count and your restart date.

    2. A survey of the old and new buildings produces the asset register. Smaller jobs get a same-day price from a desktop survey.

    3. You receive a quote and a programme in moving order, with method statements, risk assessments and lift plans.

    4. Our crews pack each machine once it is out and carry it to the new site in sequence.

    5. At the new site every machine goes back on its base, levelled and set to line, ready for recommissioning.

    FAQs

    Common questions

It can for tall plant. The A15 over the Humber Bridge is the direct route, and the bridge restricts high-sided vehicles in strong wind, so each large load is checked against the forecast, with the road round through Goole kept as a fallback.

Yes. After decommissioning, each machine is crated and case-marked to suit the sailing your freight forwarder has arranged, and leaves in the order the receiving plant wants.

In most cases, yes, for part of the plant. We move the lines you can spare first and get them running at the new site, then bring the rest across. It means more visits, and it keeps output going while the move is under way. We tell you at survey which parts can overlap.

We agree who does what at survey and write it into the programme. It is a mix of our crew, your maintenance team and the equipment manufacturers, and everyone knows their part before the first machine moves. Recommissioning is done with your engineers or the manufacturer.
