Weather windows for the outdoor days. Wind coming in off the North Sea sets the limit on any lift done outside, so each item that has to leave by crane is flagged on the asset register and given room in the programme for a lost day.

Common questions

What limits what can leave Aberdeen in one piece?

Usually the height and width of the item. Large machines are measured against the route out on the A90 or A96 before a lorry is booked, and anything that will not travel whole is split at a joint the manufacturer accepts.

We are bringing a line into Aberdeen. Can you handle just the receiving end?

Yes. Offloading, positioning, levelling and setting to line can be taken on their own. Send the layout it is going into and we check the doors, bases and floor first.

Can we keep producing while we move?

In most cases, yes, for part of the plant. We move the lines you can spare first and get them running at the new site, then bring the rest across. It means more visits, and it keeps output going while the move is under way. We tell you at survey which parts can overlap.

How are disconnection and recommissioning handled?

We agree who does what at survey and write it into the programme. It is a mix of our crew, your maintenance team and the equipment manufacturers, and everyone knows their part before the first machine moves. Recommissioning is done with your engineers or the manufacturer.
