Factory relocation in Newcastle and across Tyneside

We take the whole job from one point of contact: a survey and asset register, disconnection and decommissioning alongside your engineers and the equipment manufacturers, strip-out and dismantling, lifting the plant out, packing and crating, transport, offloading and positioning at the new site, then reinstallation, levelling, setting to line and recommissioning with your engineers or the manufacturer.

What a factory relocation covers
We move whole factories or single departments. Equipment you are leaving behind can be taken out for sale or disposal while we are on site. If the new building runs late, your plant waits in our storage. A small move takes a day, while a large one can run in phases over months.

Access and planning for a factory move in Newcastle
Points we check on most Newcastle relocations:
- Crossing the Tyne. A move from Gateshead to North Tyneside or Northumberland has to cross the river, and each crossing has its own height and weight limits. We pick the crossing for every tall or heavy machine on the asset register.
- The unit you are moving into. We go back before moving day to see that the slab, bases, supplies and doors match what the programme needs.
- Getting plant out of older works. Older riverside and Gateshead buildings can have tight openings and low beams. Door sizes, headroom, yard space and any removable roof panel decide how each machine leaves.
- Checking both floors. Skates and jacks put the weight on small points, so we check the slab in each unit and lay steel plates where needed.
- Road space and oversized loads. If loading needs part of a road, we arrange the closure and traffic management with Newcastle City Council, Gateshead Council or North Tyneside Council. Abnormal loads are notified where a machine needs it.
Keeping production going during the move
Moving in phases keeps your customers supplied. The lines you can spare leave first and are producing at the new site before the rest follows, with the heaviest work in a weekend or shutdown. A Team Valley firm moving to Cramlington can run both units for a time.
Our storage holds the plant for whatever time separates the lease handback from the new building’s completion. Anything you are not taking is cleared for sale or disposal on the same visits.

How a factory relocation works
- Tell us both addresses, roughly how many machines are going and the date production must start again.
- We survey the two sites and compile the asset register. A smaller move can be priced the same day from a desktop survey.
- The quote comes with a programme in move order, plus method statements, risk assessments and lift plans.
- We extract and pack each item and put it on the road in its planned slot.
- At the new site the plant is reinstalled, levelled and set to line, then handed over for recommissioning.
Common questions
Our new unit at Cramlington is still being built. When do you need to see it?
As soon as the slab and door positions are fixed. We check the bases and the way in against the asset register, then visit again before the first load so any late change to the building is picked up.
We are closing a riverside works. Can some plant go to our other site and the rest be sold?
Yes. At survey we mark each item as going, for sale or for scrap. Plant for your other site moves in the order it is needed there, and the rest goes for sale or disposal, leaving the building clear.
Can we keep producing while we move?
In most cases, yes, for part of the plant. We move the lines you can spare first and get them running at the new site, then bring the rest across. It means more visits, and it keeps output going while the move is under way. We tell you at survey which parts can overlap.
How are disconnection and recommissioning handled?
We agree who does what at survey and write it into the programme. It is a mix of our crew, your maintenance team and the equipment manufacturers, and everyone knows their part before the first machine moves. Recommissioning is done with your engineers or the manufacturer.
