Access and planning for dismantling in Leicester
Points fixed before the first cut on a Leicester job:
- Streets in the centre. Carriageways around the Cultural Quarter and the main shopping area leave little standing room, and parts are closed to traffic through the day, so heavier lifts go to an early start or a Sunday.
- Crane standing, ground bearing and the way out. Items are match-marked and recorded as they are released, connections are broken at flanges and bolts where the joint allows, and each piece is packed for transport and storage. A machine being sold on is handled the same.
Plant at the end of its life earns what it can through separation: stainless in one container and carbon steel in another, cable and non-ferrous kept out of the general skip, and sections sized so a weighbridge can price them. Is a weekend shutdown at a Leicestershire food plant long enough?

How is dismantling different from demolition?
Demolition takes a structure down and the value is in the cleared site. Dismantling takes plant apart in the reverse of the order it went up, so what comes off keeps its value as equipment, as parts, or as material worth more separated than mixed. Who cleans and certifies the plant before cutting?
