Access and planning for dismantling in Doncaster
We settle these before cutting starts on a Doncaster job:
- What the plant held. Purging, cleaning and gas-free certification belong to the operator or to a specialist, and cutting is booked against the shift each certificate covers.
- Access and rescue at height. Very little of a dismantle happens at floor level. Platform positions, edge protection, what supports a section through the cut and the rescue arrangements are written before anyone goes up.

Where none of it has a future, segregation is what pays: stainless boxed away from carbon steel, cable and non-ferrous kept clear of the mixed skip, and steel cut to a size the wagons take. Common questions
Our overhead crane is redundant and the works keeps running. Can it come out?
Yes. The bays underneath are fenced off and handed to us, the crab and bridge come off so the runway steel carries nothing, then beams and columns come down span by span.
The plant stands close to a running line. What changes?
Clearances come first, and normally a possession, settled with the rail operator ahead of any date. Sparks and dropped material go into the same agreement, and the cutting follows the windows we are given.
How is dismantling different from demolition?
Demolition takes a structure down and the value is in the cleared site. Dismantling takes plant apart in the reverse of the order it went up, so what comes off keeps its value as equipment, as parts, or as material worth more separated than mixed. The planning takes longer and the work is slower, and on the right job it pays for itself.
Who cleans and certifies the plant before cutting?
Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification sit with the site operator or a specialist, and the sequence is planned around those certificates. Several are valid for one shift only, so the cutting is arranged to match when they can be issued. We agree all of that at survey and write it into the programme.
