Access and planning for a machine move in Newcastle

Getting loads in and out. Heavy loads reach Tyneside on the A1 and the A19. Low bridges, weight limits, height restrictions and the river crossings shape the route for a tall load, and we fix it before we quote.
The city centre and the Quayside. Narrow streets, bus lanes and busy footways leave little space to park a trailer or stand a crane. Central load-outs are booked for an evening or a Sunday.
Floors and ground. Quaysides, reclaimed riverside land and basements under pavements are checked before we set up a crane or lay a skate route. Where a floor needs help, we spread the load with steel plates or mats.
Production stops. We need to know when the machine can stop and when it has to be running again. Setting up and clearing away come out of that time, and we plan for both.

Up to 80,000kg the highway and bridge authorities need two clear working days’ notice through ESDAL, rising to five above that, when the police need notice too. Loads over 2.9m wide or 18.65m long also need two clear working days’ notice to the police. Above 150,000kg or 6.1m wide a Special Order is needed, applied for about ten weeks ahead. We handle the notifications ourselves or with your haulier. From Newcastle, heavy loads usually head out on the A1 Western Bypass or the A19.

Can you move machinery between two units on Team Valley?

Yes. Short moves across an estate come up all the time. We check both floors and the route between the doors, agree access with anyone sharing the yard, and plan the order so the machines you need first are running first.

Can you move machinery at a riverside or quayside site?

Yes. Quaysides and reclaimed land by the river are checked for what they will carry before a crane or trailer is set up, and we spread the load with mats where needed. On a working quay the timing is agreed around vessel movements.

Who disconnects and reconnects the machine?

Mechanical disconnection and making safe is usually ours, and we position the machine precisely enough for commissioning. Electrical and control reconnection is coordinated with your own engineers or the machine manufacturer, and who covers what is agreed at survey stage.

Can you move a machine that has broken down?
