Access and planning for a lift and shift in Lincoln

Working on the hill. Streets up to the old city are steep and narrow, so the lorry may have to stand on a slope. We unload onto the flattest ground available, and an item on skates on a gradient is held on a restraint line to the door.
Insulated and suspended floors. Cold stores on processing sites have insulated floors that will not take a point load, and older buildings in the centre have cellars. We find out what is under the route and spread the weight with tracks or mats.
Headroom along the route. We measure clearance with the item on the equipment, then every door and corner to the base.
Sites that keep working. Food sites and warehouses run shifts round the clock, so we work to their permits.
Space on the road. Where the lorry has to unload from the carriageway, we apply to Lincolnshire County Council for the closure or permit and supply the traffic management.

Common questions

Can you install plant in a listed building in Lincoln?

Yes. We measure every opening on the route and protect the stone floors, and the item travels on skates or a low gantry so nothing is fixed to the fabric or cut from it.

Can you replace a rooftop unit on a warehouse without stopping the site?

Yes. A crane lifts the new unit onto the roof and our crew skates it to the frame, then the old unit leaves the same way. We work in the yard slots the site gives us.

How much headroom do you need?

Less than most people expect, but it decides the method. What counts is the gap between the top of the item and the lowest obstruction on the route once the item is on the equipment. Where it is tight we use a low-headroom gantry or jacks and lift in smaller steps.

Will you damage our floor?

Not if the route is prepared, and that preparation is part of the price. We spread the load with mats or tracks where the slab needs it, protect finished surfaces, and agree beforehand what gets covered and what gets made good.
