Access and planning for a factory move in Teesside
Points we check on most Teesside relocations:
- Crane standings on made ground. Yards beside the Tees can sit on reclaimed or former industrial land. Where a crane loads from the yard at either address, we check the ground under the outriggers and lay mats if needed.
- Bases and supplies at the new unit. Floor, machine bases, power and air need to be finished, with a clear way in, by the programme dates.
- How each machine leaves. Door widths, headroom, yard space and any roof panel that can come off decide the method for each item.
- Slabs at the old and new buildings. Jacks and skates put a heavy load through a small area. We look at the floor in both buildings and spread the load with plates where it calls for it.
- Four councils and the trunk roads. A load-out that needs part of a road or pavement is arranged with Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland or Middlesbrough council. Heavy loads join the A66 or the A19, with abnormal loads notified where needed.
Keeping production going during the move
Teesside plants with orders to meet can move in phases. We take the lines you can spare first and have them producing at the new site before the rest comes across, and the lines you cannot spare go over a weekend or in a planned shutdown.
Where the old lease runs out first, the equipment waits in our storage until the new floor is ready. Plant you are leaving behind is cleared for sale or disposal during the same visits, so a works moving from Hartlepool to Redcar hands back an empty building.

How a factory relocation works
- Tell us where you are moving from and to, roughly how many machines are going and when production has to restart.
- We survey both sites and compile the asset register. For a smaller move a desktop survey is enough, with a price the same day.
- The quote comes with a programme set in the order of the move, along with method statements, risk assessments and lift plans.

Common questions
We are moving from Stockton to Hartlepool. Do we need to deal with both councils?
No. Where loading at either end needs part of a road or pavement, we apply to Stockton-on-Tees or Hartlepool Borough Council as the road requires and bring the traffic management.
We are moving a factory to Teesside from elsewhere. Can you collect it?
Yes. We survey the site you are leaving, wherever it is in the UK or Europe, pack the plant and bring it to your new Teesside building for reinstallation.
Can we keep producing while we move?
In most cases, yes, for part of the plant. We move the lines you can spare first and get them running at the new site, then bring the rest across. It means more visits, and it keeps output going while the move is under way. We tell you at survey which parts can overlap.
How are disconnection and recommissioning handled?
We agree who does what at survey and write it into the programme. It is a mix of our crew, your maintenance team and the equipment manufacturers, and everyone knows their part before the first machine moves. Recommissioning is done with your engineers or the manufacturer.
