Access and planning for a lift and shift in Hull

Wind on the crane part. Where a crane lands the item on a roof or in a yard near the estuary, we check the forecast against that crane’s limits and agree a back-up date.
Made ground and the slab. The city stands on reclaimed and made ground, and older yards and slabs can be thinner than they look. We find out what the route crosses, including ducts and drainage pits, and lay mats or steel track where needed.
Headroom along the route. We take the clearance with the item on the skates or gantry, then measure each doorway and turn to the base.

Common questions

Can you work inside a cold store or a food production area?

Yes. Our skates and rollers are cleaned before they arrive, and we follow the site’s hygiene and PPE rules, covering floors wherever it asks. Tell us the room temperature and when the area must be clear.

What if it is too windy to crane the unit onto the roof?

We agree a back-up date when we plan the job, because wind off the Humber can stop a crane lift on a clear day. The call is made the day before from the forecast.

How much headroom do you need?

Less than most people expect, but it decides the method. What counts is the gap between the top of the item and the lowest obstruction on the route once the item is on the equipment. Where it is tight we use a low-headroom gantry or jacks and lift in smaller steps.

Will you damage our floor?

Not if the route is prepared, and that preparation is part of the price. We spread the load with mats or tracks where the slab needs it, protect finished surfaces, and agree beforehand what gets covered and what gets made good.
