01. Project
A van lifted out of a lake for a TV drama
We supplied a 50te crane and crew to ITV Studios for a scene in the ITV crime drama Vera. The scene shows our Demag AC 50-1, part of our fleet at the time, lifting a van out of a lake at Greenfoot Quarry in County Durham.
The job was a contract lift: we lifted the van into the lake and back out again for the cameras. The hard part was the timing rather than the lift. The film crew needed the natural light to be right for the shot, so our team stayed set up and ready for hours until it was. The scene appears in Series 8, Episode 2, Black Ice, first shown on ITV in January 2018.

Crane and team
Crane
Our Demag AC 50-1 (50te) all-terrain crane, set up at Greenfoot Quarry.
Contract Lift
We supplied the crane on a contract lift, so we planned and ran the lift and the film crew could concentrate on the shot.
Team
Our lift team worked to the film crew’s schedule, staying on site beyond the planned hours until the light was right for filming.

04. Outcome
What it meant for the client
ITV got the shot they wanted, in the light they wanted. Film and television work runs to the director’s schedule rather than ours, so we set up early, stay ready and lift when the crew calls it.
