Access and planning for dismantling in Deeside
On Deeside these come first, ahead of any cutting:
- Working above the floor. Cutting positions sit on a structure or a roof, so platforms, edge protection, what holds each member as it is parted and rescue go in the lift plan.
- What the plant held. Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification come from the operator or a specialist, and cutting is booked inside the shifts they cover.
- What stands once a piece goes. Plant carries load through connections the drawings never show, so each stage is checked for what stays standing, with propping where needed.

Dismantling for reuse, or for recovery
Where plant is going back up, at your works or a buyer’s, the survey is written with the rebuild in view. Positions are recorded and each item match-marked while the structure is whole, joints undone at bolts and flanges wherever one allows it, and pieces crated for the trailer and the store, or for the crossing on a move to a sister plant in Europe.
Plant at the end of its life turns on separation. Stainless is kept clear of carbon steel, cable and non-ferrous go to their own containers, and material is sized so a weighbridge takes it cleanly. Deeside jobs usually carry some of each, so say at the outset which items have a future and the cutting order brings them out whole.

Common questions
Our site is in Flintshire and the load-out crosses into England. Who arranges the closures?
We do. Flintshire County Council covers the site itself, Cheshire West and Chester the road space over the border, and Wrexham a route running south. Notice periods differ, so those dates go into the programme.
Can an overhead crane come out of a hall still in use?
Yes. The runway comes to us as an exclusion zone for those shifts, the hoist and crab away first, then girders unbolted and lowered overnight, span by span.
How is dismantling different from demolition?
Demolition takes a structure down and the value is in the cleared site. Dismantling takes plant apart in the reverse of the order it went up, so what comes off keeps its value as equipment, as parts, or as material worth more separated than mixed. The planning takes longer and the work is slower, and on the right job it pays for itself.
Who cleans and certifies the plant before cutting?
Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification sit with the site operator or a specialist, and the sequence is planned around those certificates. Several are valid for one shift only, so the cutting is arranged to match when they can be issued. We agree all of that at survey and write it into the programme.
