Access and planning for a factory move in Hartlepool

How a factory relocation works

Tell us both addresses, roughly how many machines are involved and when production has to restart.
We survey both sites for the asset register, or price a smaller move the same day from a desktop survey.
We send a quote and a programme listing each machine in the order it moves, with method statements, risk assessments and lift plans.
Machines are extracted, packed and driven to the new site one phase at a time.
Once there, each one goes onto its base, is levelled and set to line, and is handed to your engineers for recommissioning.

Common questions

Can you move a fabrication shop’s profile cutter and plate rolls?

Yes. The cutting table’s rails and gantry are separated and marked, and the rolls come out whole if the doors allow or in parts if not. Both are set level and to line in the new shop before your engineers reconnect them.

Our unit backs onto the coast railway. Will that affect the move?

Only where a crane has to load close to the line. In that case clearances, and sometimes a possession, are agreed with Network Rail, which takes lead time, so we look at it on the first survey.

Can we keep producing while we move?

In most cases, yes, for part of the plant. We move the lines you can spare first and get them running at the new site, then bring the rest across. It means more visits, and it keeps output going while the move is under way. We tell you at survey which parts can overlap.

How are disconnection and recommissioning handled?

We agree who does what at survey and write it into the programme. It is a mix of our crew, your maintenance team and the equipment manufacturers, and everyone knows their part before the first machine moves. Recommissioning is done with your engineers or the manufacturer.
