Access and planning for a lift and shift in Reading

A shutdown window with a fixed end. Data halls and critical sites along the corridor give us a set number of hours, so we time each leg of the route at survey and plan back from the finish time.
What lies under the route. Business park service yards can sit over drainage and ducting, and ground beside the Thames and the Kennet is made up in places. We check what the slab or yard will carry and lay mats or steel plates where needed.
Headroom and the way through. We measure clearance with the item on its equipment, and every door, goods lift, ramp and corner on the way.

Common questions

We only have a short shutdown window. Can you still do the job?

Yes, if we know the window early. We time the route at survey and size the crew to finish inside it, and if one window is not enough we split the work across two.

Our plant room is reached across a service yard. Is that a problem?

Not in itself. Yards on the Reading business parks can have drainage and ducts under them, so we ask for the drawings and lay plates or mats along the route before the item crosses.

How much headroom do you need?

Less than most people expect, but it decides the method. What counts is the gap between the top of the item and the lowest obstruction on the route once the item is on the equipment. Where it is tight we use a low-headroom gantry or jacks and lift in smaller steps.

Will you damage our floor?

Not if the route is prepared, and that preparation is part of the price. We spread the load with mats or tracks where the slab needs it, protect finished surfaces, and agree beforehand what gets covered and what gets made good.
