Access and planning for dismantling in Coventry
What we settle before a cutting sequence is agreed in Coventry:
- Access and rescue at height. Working at height sets much of the plan: platform positions, edge protection, how a section is held while cut, and rescue.
- What the plant held. Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification come from the operator or a specialist they appoint, each certificate covering a set period, so cutting is booked to the shift it covers.
- What stays standing after each cut. Plant carries loads that show only once a member is released, so each stage is checked for what holds the rest up, and temporary steel goes in where needed.

Where plant is going back up somewhere else, that is decided before the first cut. Each item is marked and logged against the record as it is released, connections are broken at flanges and bolts, and parts are packed for transport and storage. Machines sold on as working equipment get the same handling.
Where nothing is being saved, the return comes from separation. Carbon steel and stainless are kept apart, cable and non-ferrous have containers of their own, and material is cut to sizes a weighbridge takes. Most Coventry jobs sit between the two. Common questions
Our works sits inside the ring road. How do the sections get away?
The way out is chosen with the crane position at survey, and sections are cut to what the vehicle and slip roads take. Loading goes in a quiet hour, with a council closure if the lorry stands on the road.
Can cutting go on while the test bays next door keep working?
Yes. The exclusion zone and hot work position are agreed with your team, and where nearby equipment has vibration or dust limits we cold cut and screen the opening. Heavy sections go at night.
How is dismantling different from demolition?
Demolition takes a structure down and the value is in the cleared site. Dismantling takes plant apart in the reverse of the order it went up, so what comes off keeps its value as equipment, as parts, or as material worth more separated than mixed. The planning takes longer and the work is slower, and on the right job it pays for itself.
Who cleans and certifies the plant before cutting?
Cleaning, purging and gas-free certification sit with the site operator or a specialist, and the sequence is planned around those certificates. Several are valid for one shift only, so the cutting is arranged to match when they can be issued. We agree all of that at survey and write it into the programme.
