Access and planning for a lift and shift in Liverpool

Points we check on most Liverpool jobs:

Port and site rules. On the dock estate and the process sites up the river, inductions and permits are sorted before the day so the crew can start on arrival.
What the floor sits on. Reclaimed land by the river and old cellars beneath city-centre pavements affect where a lorry can stand and what a ground floor will carry. We check the slab along the route and lay mats or steel track where needed.
Headroom and the way in. We measure height with the item on the equipment, then every doorway and turn. Cast iron columns in converted warehouses can narrow a route more than drawings show.
Buildings still in use. We agree working hours with whoever runs the building and keep a way through for their staff.
Kerbside loading. When the lorry or crane needs part of the road or pavement, we can arrange the traffic management and road closure with Liverpool City Council, or the neighbouring council beyond the city boundary.

If the item still won’t fit, we strip back a door frame and make it good, or take it through in sections.

Common questions

Can you move a tank or skid on a Widnes or Runcorn process site?

Yes. We attend the induction, work under the site’s permit-to-work system and agree the sequence with operations once the item has been drained and isolated.

Can you take plant down to a basement in an older city-centre building?

Yes. We look at the stairs, any pavement hatch and what sits under the ground floor, then decide whether the unit goes down whole on a gantry or in sections.

How much headroom do you need?

Less than most people expect, but it decides the method. What counts is the gap between the top of the item and the lowest obstruction on the route once the item is on the equipment. Where it is tight we use a low-headroom gantry or jacks and lift in smaller steps.

Will you damage our floor?

Not if the route is prepared, and that preparation is part of the price. We spread the load with mats or tracks where the slab needs it, protect finished surfaces, and agree beforehand what gets covered and what gets made good.
